TALLAHASSEE, FL – Leon County Property Appraiser Akin Akinyemi, PhD, RA, CFA, CMS, has mailed legally required Notices of Proposed Property Taxes (“TRIM notices”) to Leon County property owners. These notices provide taxpayers with a preview of their property’s assessed value as of January 1, 2026, any applicable exemptions, and their estimated property taxes for the year based on budget proposals from local taxing authorities.
“Your TRIM notice is an invaluable resource that helps you get ahead in understanding your property’s value and projected taxes,” said Akinyemi. “Reviewing it early allows you to plan with confidence and avoid surprises when tax bills are issued in November.”
While the TRIM notice is not a bill, it provides property owners with their first look at the factors that will determine their property taxes. Taking a few moments to review the notice can help property owners stay informed and confident about what to expect. Each taxing authority, including the City of Tallahassee and Leon County government, will host public hearings before formally adopting final budgets and tax rates. The dates, locations, and contact information for each public hearing are included on the back of the TRIM notice for easy reference. Taxpayers with questions about proposed tax rates should contact the respective taxing authorities for assistance.
The Leon County Property Appraiser's Office remains committed to providing accurate assessments, exceptional service, and fostering public trust. We encourage all property owners to carefully review their TRIM notices and contact our office at (850) 606-6200 with questions or concerns about property values or exemptions. Detailed information about TRIM notices is available on our website at leonpa.gov.
