Leon County property owners will soon receive a newly redesigned Notice of Proposed Property Taxes—commonly referred to as the TRIM (Truth in Millage) notice. The updated format is part of the Leon County Property Appraiser’s continued commitment to making property tax information easier to understand and more accessible for all residents.

Leon County Property Appraiser Akin Akinyemi, PhD, RA, CFA, CMS, has submitted the preliminary 2025 tax roll to the Florida Department of Revenue and local taxing authorities. As of January 1, 2025, Leon County’s overall market values rose nearly 5.4% from 2024, with taxable property values up nearly 7.8%. For properties with a homestead exemption, assessed values will not increase by more than 3% over last year’s value, in accordance with Florida law.

IAAO Logo The Leon County Property Appraiser's Office has been awarded the Certificate of Excellence in Assessment Administration from the International Association of Assessing Officers.

The CEAA award is in recognition of utilizing best appraisal and assessment practices. In 2012, our office became the 11th jurisdiction nationally to earn the certificate since the inception of the program, and the 8th jurisdiction in Florida. The office was recertified in 2018 and 2024.
